The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75/15 12/24V is a solar charger for 12V or 24V systems (auto select). The maximum rated PV power handled by the charger at 12V system voltage is 220 W, and at 24V system voltage it is 440 W. The maximum PV open-circuit voltage of this charger is 75 V. The SmartSolar solar charge controllers feature a programmable battery charging algorithm and built-in Bluetooth Smart as standard for configuration and monitoring of solar yield.

Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)
Especially in cloudy conditions and when light intensity constantly changes, an ultra-fast MPPT controller improves energy yield by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.

BatteryLife: intelligent battery management
If a solar charge controller cannot fully recharge the battery within one day, the result is often that the battery constantly fluctuates between “partially charged” and “fully discharged”. Without regular full charging, a lead-acid battery can become irreversibly damaged within weeks or months. The BatteryLife algorithm monitors the battery state of charge and, if necessary, gradually increases the load disconnect level from day to day (disconnecting the load earlier) until the harvested solar energy is sufficient to charge the battery to nearly 100%. From that point on, the disconnect level is modulated so that the battery is charged to nearly 100% about once per week.

Programmable battery charging algorithm
The charge controller starts a new charging cycle every morning as soon as the sun begins to shine, based on a three-stage charging process: Bulk – Absorption – Float. The battery charging algorithm is programmable with a set of default settings or user-defined settings.

Internal temperature sensor
Compensates absorption and float charging voltages according to temperature.

Load output
Deep discharge of the battery can be prevented by connecting all loads to the load output. The load output disconnects the load when the battery is discharged down to a preset voltage. (48V model: interface with a relay) Alternatively, the BatteryLife intelligent battery management algorithm can be used. The load output can be configured via Bluetooth or VE.Direct and is short-circuit proof.

Day/night timing and light dimming option
The Streetlight function allows automatic control of night lighting, including timing and dimming options. When the street lighting function is enabled, a timer program can be created using ‘sunset’ and ‘sunrise’ as anchor points. The advantage is that the program adapts to the length of the night, as it changes with the seasons.
